Dates for your diary
We can confirm that the Hemisphere Cup is being hosted in England in 2008. The 9th Hemisphere Cup will be played at Silloth on Solway on the 22nd & 23rd May 2008 following the usual format.
Situated on the north west coast of
Cumbria, Silloth on Solway Golf Club is blessed with stunning views of the
Galloway Hills to the north, and south to the Lakeland fells and the distant
Isle of Man. The Championship links of over 6,600 yards has been laid out
over the sand-hills west of town, touched by some of the great classical
golf architects, but mostly moulded by Nature herself. The links is an R & A
Regional Qualifying Courses for the Open.
Silloth will be an ideal venue for the Hemisphere Cup. Hazards consist of heather and bent; whin and broom; heroic bunkers and sandy wastes. Fairways are always wider than they seem from the tee, and having been laid with springy Cumberland turf, invite courageous fairway woods and crisp iron shots. Greens are subtle, firm, fast, and deadly true. Challenges met, visitors can enjoy the busy and atmospheric clubhouse, a meal made with local produce; a wine or beer from the selection at Bar where there is usually also a guest beer, and above all, a warm Cumbrian welcome.
